Hello I aquaired a interesting k98 LSR the three holes are drilled and taped. It's all matching besides the magazine floor plate, the trigger guard is stamped "qdw" it's very hard to see. The key safety has a waffenampt I can't read it even with magnifier it starts with "WAa??" And then a has "AC" underneath the eagle.

I would love some information.

This rifle is absolutely mint beside faded Browning phosphate finish some places. absolutely zero scratches or dings bore is 10/10

Hypothetically it could be for sale but I'm unsure for now.

Unfinished LSR sniper (Long side rail) Gustloff rifle. Funny enough more rare and possibly more valuable than genuine finished sniper rifles, these often get bought up and turned into snipers which is quite sad. Beware of PM's with lowball offers especially as a brand new poster, on the other side of the coin people are going to be skeptical of your first post here being a highly desirable rifle "possibly" for sale (seems to be fishing for PM deals/scams). The floorplate may be original but we won't know without pictures. The triggerguard is marked "qnw"

I posted some more pics of floor plate. Thank you for your response

People will be requesting pictures of the bolt, barrel bands, stock markings if any, and closeups of basically every part of the gun, I'd say better lighting to start.

More pics

If you have truly a legit unfinished factory LSR (I’m not an expert in sniper variants)… you are looking at some serious cash if you want to part with it. I know the experts can determine the original long key safety from the best repros among other things. From the numbers I’ve seen, upwards of $15k+ easy. The floorplate is mismatched, which is unfortunate but not the end of the world. Look out for lowballs because you will be getting them, 💯 %. Also, if you’re not a k98k expert with the right tools, leave it alone when it comes to taking things apart… very easy to damage stuff and it really hurts the value. Where did you find this? It’s crazy…

This makes the second unfinished LSR found from just my experience here on the forum. What these go for at auction I have no clue but a recent LSR that had been sporterized (chopped stock, missing barrel bands, buttplate was modified to the moon, sling slot filled in and the bolt take down disc removed and filled) sold for $8,807 and that's before sales tax, insurance and shipping costs.

I can see the E/13 of the barrel code in your last picture. You would have to pull the action out of the stock to view it fully (I really need to take a better pic of mine). Only do it if you're confident in not messing up anything and have the right tools to do it. Regardless, you have what appears to be a very nice, legitimate unfinished LSR which is an awesome rifle. I would hope the mods move this to the Optics & Snipers forum, they will give you the full rundown on what this rifle really is. Congrats on picking this one up!

This thing is probably going on gun broker if we are talking that much money. I will take stock off and get barrel code photos tonight(I can do it without hurting it 100% I have done it lots on other 98s)
If you want a center piece of a Mauser collection this would be it (I always encourage people to hold onto these because the chances of finding another is next to nothen if acquired cheaply or handed down in the family)

These unfinished LSR rifles were captured at the Gustloff factory which is why it's not finished. If enough of these existed, every guy who collects German K98K rifles would have one if they could. (Ik I would!)

Those action screws look untouched. That’s the first thing people mess up using Home Depot husky flathead screwdrivers 😂. Good luck.

Really cool rifle, worth a huge amount of money and as Jdt says… would be one of the center pieces of a k98k collection for most out there.

@paraFAL here is the other example I'm aware of on the forum.
