AX 41 4838 g "e/KG69" marked.

Thanks for your research! With the rifle coming out of state and being a legitimate address in downtown Tulsa It does give me SOME what of a feeling as to being legitimate but only one way to find out and that is a records check thru a private investigator of the vet service number and family name history research. I also have a 1899 Spandau with a service number stamped into the butt plate so when I get the chance (aka funds) I'll also have that Gewehr 98m and this rifle researched. If the paper is humped then no sweat off my nose. Just more of and excuse to clean it up, shoot it and toss a humped piece of paper in the trash.
I want to reiterate that I do not know that the paper is a fraud, - I do think that it is very unlikely two sellers overlooked mention of it but then again the impossible happens in politics on a daily basis... the rifle itself is fine and rather a rarity in this condition, it is no "shooter grade" or disposable humped POS.

*** this is often a tricky decision, when I discover in the database an "improvement", especially like this situation (a good guy's deal 4-5 years late, I question the need to mention it, but I thought it might be worth examining the subject here - Jdt I think you are a fine newer collector and none of these posts were meant to offend you, and anyone that has been around for anytime at all know I have a high tolerance for making people I disagree with angry... or at least that is often the intention)

You didn't't make me angry at all 🙂 no worries there for sure!

Final pics, mainly of the bolt and action, I honestly want to clean off all the old dried cosmoline that's all over the bolt and inside the action plus clean up the barrel bands with some bronze wool and oil because some of the steel is starting to rust just abit. The rear sight as well is either very worn or so full of gunk it impedes function and the slider slides to easily. What do you all think?
Side note but the tang has a lot of exposed metal so I think this rifle went to Königsburg for stock work, possibly related to loss of accuracy or some kind of damage and that's how it got Kg96 marked. Sling has some dark spots on it as well, think it could be blood or just some oil soak of some kind? Only marking on the sling is a "C"

Here's my first thread seeking advice about it. Pictures aren't there anymore though as I was using Photobucket at the time. It's been 11 years since I picked it up. Doesn't seem like that long ago.

Here's a link to the second thread about it.

My pictures at the time were on Photobucket and I deleted that account long ago. Here's a few pictures on my Imgur account. I need to go back and reupload the initial detailed pictures to Imgur one of these days.

Awesome example man! Your rifle seems to have more wear but is more clean and well taken care of than mine that's for sure!
