Authentic or repro?

I took this sling off a wartime 98k. I don’t know if it is period correct. The buckle has a seam which I have not seen before. There might be very faint markings on the leather ( picture) but I cannot make them out.

The leather cover has worn off that buckle. Most are seam welded but this appears to have bypassed that step.
