Seen pictures at the guys test firing/ sighting at oberndorf with either not ear protection or maybe just cotton plugs. Firing hundreds of rounds a day every day next to other guys doing the same. They must have all gone deaf. But then again most factories at the time were load places with no ear pro…

Looks like Einheit (unit) 2/SS Aus Ers Rgt, not the typical abbreviation for Training and Replacement Regiment. Has to be early with those uniforms and the soft cap insignia like that.

Could it be possible that the device is some bigger version of the Zielspiegel or Ziel-Kontrollapparat ?
On the board, there is the column "Aufsicht"/"Monitoring".
It looks like the grunt is having a training course.

Let me translate: Einheit / Aufsicht / Tag / Zeit : Unit / Monitoring / Day / Time
The word on the left, which is cropped, could be "Übung" ie. Drill or exercise.
