AR 42 ZF-41 value and review

Here to share this rifle. Looking for additional insight or comments. Also looking for a value, as I will likely sell this rifle and don’t want to over value or undervalue it.

AR 42 manufacture, has the correct stock for the year/code. Stock is not numbered or waffenampt stamped on the outside of the r stock at all. According to the k98 book this is correct as Mauser Berlin didn’t mark their stocks externally at all after spring of 42. The stock channel is marked and matching though.

It appears to be matching minus the bolt, and floor plate. The scope could be mismatched as well, hoping you fine gentlemen can help me in that area. It has a mismatched bolt, indicating likely GI bring back. Floor plate also doesn’t seem to make but has a waffenampt over “1” not sure what that’s about.

I don’t know much about the optics or the mounts, was hoping for more information on that end.

Overall nice looking rifle.

so far it looks like a legit AR42 zf41... need to see more as far as these stock proofs you speak of.

Well that’s just it, there are none. As the K98 book explains, AR quite proofing their stocks at all, except the inside channel, and this stock doesn’t have any proofs on the outside of it. The inner channel has the matching serial number but that’s it.

I bought a RC AR42 ZF42 to shoot. It shoots very well by the way. It does have an external stock proof. It has a text book stock cut for the scope mount. I have no clue how the scope mount remained with the rifle or if it was replaced

Some folks here get good deals on them but I always saw them for high prices. The cheapest believable one at a gun show was $6K many years ago. I got a nice one from a Vet in PA. He was on a sm CG ship patrolling around LA Havre post D-day. He had a bunch of pics to back it up including him holding it on the boat. These were carried to the English Channel on a larger ship, not cross Atlantic rated. I tired to get pics of the pictures but little success. He did a write up for me about the history and a bit of his experience. This was about 1990 and I had to pony up $5K and a drive to PA, no scope. At least the real deal beyond doubt and checked by some members here and all matching. It was on Gunboards before this existed. Good luck getting one. They are widely faked.
