Ajack Scope Question

Hey Guys,

I am currently collecting parts to "resniper" an ex high turret sporter I purchased a few years ago. I recently purchased a 4x90 Ajack scope from Germany to go with a set of Spielauer mounts. I have a question regarding the Ajack sunshades.
Here is the rifle:

Here is the scope I purchased:

I am curious if it is possible to obtain and use a sunshade like the one seen in this pic?

I would like the build to resemble this rifle when completed.

Thanks in advance,
Brian

I'm sure someone out there makes one. Hell, If I had access to an engine lathe right now and a print or dimensions to go off of, I'd just make you one, lol.
Beautiful wood on that rifle. Shame it was dismantled
You're the same Brian from over on the Mauser FB group, yes?

Yes, that's me. I am hoping someone either has some answers or has one for sale. From what I have heard from my builder it may be an entire front assembly with the deep sunshade that is needed.

Robert is currently not doing anything, and it does not look like this will change soon. So he's not the person to talk with on this topic. Aside of that, this is one of the simplier parts - the only complicated thing is the fine threading.

Robert has spit out a few gems since "he was done". I suspect that when he does, it is something he may want to do occasionally but I bet he does not have to do anything. Crap shoot is my guess.

A parts scope or other correct scope would still work. Ajack is great but it is not the only good scope. Also, nothing wrong with having an extra scope for something else. No need to be set on an Ajack IMO.

I had talked with him this week. I know what I'm saying.

Thanks for the reply Absolut! Any idea if it is just a shade or bell extension that is needed? Or is it going to require an entire assembly (different front bell)?

I believe you, not doubting what you are saying. We all can change our minds though. I would not blame him whatever he does. Hope he is well.

Mike,
Thanks for the suggestion! I had given up trying to get ahold of Robert. I had heard awhile ago that he was getting out of the game. I tried to send a couple emails and never heard anything back. If he is done I hope he enjoys his retirement and I feel fortunate that I was able to purchase one of his HT mount sets.

Hello,

on the ajack scopes, all that I have worked on mainly the sunshade you are looking for is ALSO the front lens holder for the front obj lens. this is the same way the Kahles, & Zeiss sunshades work also. I checked and the thread pitch didn't change from pre-war 1936/7 to WWII, the very early ones are different.

You are welcome Brian. Hope all is well.

I agree with everything you say. I feel lucky to have a set of his HT setup, thanks MS, and a LSR base he made, thanks Dave and Vaughn.

Hello,

Thank you for your reply! I actually have a 4x90 Ajack serial #47678 that is in the correct range for my high turret byf 44. I just need the sunshade which I am now being told has the front lens/glass crimped and retained to the sunshade. It looks like a very nice set up you have. Good luck with your sale!
