A very sad photo

I saw this photo recently and saved it. It is quite sad. I wonder if any of these capture rifles survived.

I see that StG just needing a home. A Kriegsmodell right edge of frame 1/3 up. Let me peruse a bit more.

It's very likely, Gerst. Piles similar to that yielded the rifles that were brought home or later exported. With the exception of Audie Murphy's 98k sniper, I'd bet that very few guys came home with the actual rifle they pried from the hands of someone they killed in combat.

I see at least two bayonets.Go left from the helmet, there are a couple of ammo pouches, one of them is resting on top of a bayonet. Go a little further left and I see a frog sticking up with another bayonet.

A pile of money

In 1945 this pile of stuff wasn’t worth much. It would bring in a pretty nice sum if that pile were sold off one item at a time in 2021!

Absolutely. A few piles like that nowadays, and you could buy your own tropical island. Especially if you sold them individually on Gunbroker.

Do I see a set of leather mp40 mag pouches there?
