98K Field Armorer's Parts Kit

http://luger.gunboards.com/showthread.php?73394-Luger-Field-Armorer-s-Parts-Kit

In the event you can not open the above link or see the pictures, then go to Jan Still's site at luger.gunboards.com and scroll down to Third Reich Lugers - 1933-45 Holsters and Accessories and you can read the article there. You may have to register on that site to see the pictures. What you will find are photos and the story as to how and where this parts kit was found and what it contains. It is a company size kit containing parts for the 98K, luger, bayonet, sling and muzzle cover. The majority of the parts are for the 98K. The kit is dated 1938 and may be Luftwaffe. I rarely see armorer's kits and this is the smallest I've seen yet.

I have seen this kit and it contains repair parts for bayonets, and 98Ks as well as Lugers. It is a very nice kit and rare. BILL

I have photos of this as well... Just haven't gotten around to posting them yet.

I saw this kit in hand @ the Allentown show before it headed south.

Hello,

yes please post pics so we can all see them, I don't need another forums account : )

photos

here are few I have more. But, all I have saved here at work.

This set is amazing and flat new. Time capsule really. Found in the attic of a Lutheran church I think that was the story. Returned to the states just recently by a service member.

Wow, that's amazing! I love how every part has its own little bay (but unlabeled, so if you were to re-stock it you'd really have to know what goes where when it comes to springs and such)!

When you say "returned to the States", do you mean it was here before? Or do you mean "brought to the States" for the first time?

The box has always been in Germany (Bavaria). It was brought into the U.S. by an American serviceman stationed close by.

Apparently some are not able to see all the pictures that are posted at Still's forum. The link is at the beginning of the thread. I have all the pictures in my email and will send them to a moderator to post here if they will send me their email address. THanks.

Thanks for posting the pictures, Ty. The parts box was found in the attic of a Bavarian home in the spa town of Bad Berneck near the Czech border(see pictures). Also included is a very old picture of the house that was found in the attic with the box. There are two trays of parts plus the bottom of the box holding additional items such as springs and pins. The parts are for the 98K, luger, bayonet, muzzle cover and sling. I am still in need of a proofed, but unnumbered, bolt sleeve and follower for the 1938 period. Thanks.
