43’ Mauser High Turret Opinions

1. Is it possible for 43’ Mauser high turret to have a legitimate flat butt plate?

2. Stock matches but hand guard does not. Thoughts?

3. Stamped upper band and milled lower neither serialed. Shouldn’t the bands be serialed on a 43’? Also, I can’t find that band combo in any reference book. Thoughts?

4. Stamped floor plate w/locking screws not serialed. Thoughts?

5. Receiver, barrel, mounts, rings, scope, tang and scope all check out and are matching.

I would upload photos, but, as usual, they’re always too big for the site to accept.

Thanks for your thoughts and opinions.

Stamped upper and machined lower is very prevalent in later, say second half or last quarter of Mauser 1943, but both bands would be numbered. I’ve never heard of factory flat buttplate 98k in 1943. There could be legitimate circumstances for everything you describe but I don’t think it’s factory original.

This not a HT but BNZ 43 SSZA4/SSZZA2 DOUBLE CLAW with a flat butt plate stock , I don't mean to high jack Your thread , but I thought it was a good idea to show a flat butt plate stock could actually have been used

In 1943 Mauser was not using flat butt plates. So while many things are possible in theory, it is extremely unlikely that the turret you are looking at is legit. Also, very unlikely that there would be a high turret in 1943. You did well to pass.
