I had saved this auction and looked at this piece of artwork many times. I saved the photos and wanted to preserve them. wartime sporters are pretty scarce and occupied factory sporters Id say even more scarce.
I know nothing about Brunn's prewar sporter business Im sure little is known. Mauser's was a little more publicized and we have seen more examples. Of interest seeing they used German optics not Czech optics a bit odd. But, maybe the owner was specific of the type of scope he wanted as this is a full custom job. Being made in 43 it was no doubt made for a Party or SS bigwig as I cant see anyone else being allowed to have such a thing made at Brunn in the height of the war.. One thing is obvious Brunn was surely capable of matching anyone one else as far as quality. Sold on GB ealrier this year for just over 9k with vets info.

That’s a sweet piece of work. I am unfamiliar with
these Brunn commercial rifles. Seems like a lot of money, but it’s as you say, a one off. You can just picture Amon Goeth sitting on the balcony…

I saw such a commercial rifle from the period of 1942-43 many years ago with one of my acquaintances. He told me that during the war in Zbrojovce Brno (Brunn) there was also a very limited production of hunting weapons. But he had a rifle with a modern scope, because he was still actively hunting with it. Coincidentally, the person in question also lived in Brunn.

These are a production model from a prewar design. 1933 is the earliest of the type I’ve recorded, and production extends into the 50’s with leftover 98k components. Some clearly went to Germany for optics engraving etc, but most are purely Czech, some feature dow optics to include the center focus. Here is a completely factory original rifle from 1942.

Clay, I do remember this rifle. It did not occur they were related as the receiver crest is hidden by the optics. I do enjoy the lines on these rifles. Thanks for posting these pictures

Thanks for posting! Did you remember the scope serial? Very interesting to compare this against the '43 firing proof year.
