1944 Oberndorf NLB zf41

This one popped up last week, and it has some pretty cool attributes. The stock is a rejected walnut piece with a secondary inspection at the wrist. The HG is e/c10 which seems to be common in this range, but it’s elm. The stock also has a small “2” just right of the rear bridge, I presume it’s probably a product of the secondary inspection somehow. It’s a definite combat rifle, has some dents and gouges throughout, which I really like the look of. This was one of those rifles the bayo lug was removed on, instead of a d/c, but luckily the lug pin in still in the stock, and I haven’t reassembled it yet. Bolt is MO, e/135 rear band etc. Besides the red oxide primer showing on the BP, there’s also a random splash of tan paint on it. I’m in the middle of moving so quick pictures will have to do for now.

What a beaut Clay! The elm handguard is badass. Great GB find. It's stuff like that that keeps me sifting through the waves of crap that pop up there.

That is a great rifle Clay! Thanks for posting, I've not seen the second acceptance at the wrist like that before, very cool! Neat to see an example like this pop up, no buggered screws, walnut with great proofs, pretty much everything we hope to find, congrats!

How much did this go for? I'm just trying to get calibrated -- I just passed on a byf 43 (that I didn't notice had the zf41 mount - duh!) that was in a bit rougher shape (stock look pretty heavily sanded) but was all matching. It went for just under $2,750. I'm trying to get a feel for what "reasonable" is.
