My local Basspro got a collection in and I went back today and found this 1942 G33/40. I don’t know a ton about these. It wasn’t on display yet and I got them to bring it out and let me look it over. Was $770 out the door so I figured I had to get it. I have never seen one in person before. The bolt is not matching, the stock has been on three different rifles from what I can tell. It has a crack at the grip. Was surprised it still has the front sight hood. Bore is in good condition. Anything I should look for or know? I appreciate the help and information.

"Welcome to BassPro, sir, how may I help you today?"
"I'm here to go fishing."
"OK what are you looking to catch? Bass? Trout? Halibut?"
"German rifles. Ideally a K98k but I'm not picky. I could do a G33/40 or even a Gew98 in a pinch."

They said they had a P38 in the back and I asked to see it. It was a post war French 1945 build. They wanted 1700 for it. I said I’m good but I want the G33/40 for sure. They had an Israeli K98 DOT for 800 also.

Jesus christ I need to start going to BassPro.
I’ve gotten some great deals at cabelas. The local guy here believes in selling everything at rock bottom. I was borderline homeless and had to pass on what I believed to be an all original Rock Island 1903 made in 1911.
