1940 ax

This 1940 ax came out of the Albany NY show in the mid 90's. It is duffle cut under the band. At one point in it's life, the front sight (e18) was slotted for a sight hood.

That’s a really nice one having just enough wear to give it some personality.
I see an e/37 on that buttplate, have you checked other small parts ?

Wonderful example Peter! Difficult code and in my favourite kind of condition.

Do you mind me asking around what you paid for this in the mid-90's? Lately I've been interested in the price development of these over time.

Rear sight slide lock bar e280
Front Sight Base e18
Cleaning Rod Nut didn't check
Bolt Sleeve Lock none
Follower Spring none
Floorplate release button none


I paid $425 for it back then.

Super nice 1940 Erma Peter,i finished up with one years ago[Ax 40] but it was a bolt MM,i sold it on.Best buy ,I swapped half tonn of oat seed for my first K98 k in 1973 [$100 value for an excellent] its one of the first 1937 s42 laminates V suffex.I still have it.
