But each part has different levels of bluing remaining, and applied bluing. If a individualed reblued I would expect each part to have been blued at once. I wouldn't think that he would reblue 1 part every 10 years. From other posts on here, the barrel has the same finish as ones claimed to be depot rework finishes. The remaining finish from parts hidden by the stock would also be consistent with applied oil to exposed parts only. The rifle did not appear to have ever been taken apart, so no oil was applied under the stock.I highly disagree that it came home like that. It was reblued a long time ago, and that individual probably “prettied” up the stock too
Does anyone know of a source of all the depot finishes from various factories? I know it's been documented that the consistency carried greatly towards the end of the war, do that could explain the finish variation.
