Here is a BSW I found today at Basspro. Some lady sold off a large collection to them and I found this. Any information would be appreciated this isn’t my area of expertise. Hope it was a $400 well spent.

Cool find! BSW is a difficult to find maker as they had low volume production. I think the stock looks like a post war Israeli replacement as it has the finger groves. As a mismatched rifle with replacements stock I think you did rather well on price! How does the bore look?

$400 seems to be the absolute floor for a complete K98k of any kind. BSW represents Berlin-Suhler Waffen und Fahrzeugweke, a manufacturer that only produced K98ks for a few years (1936-1939) and they did not make many with roughly 24k made for 1937. Definitely a parts rifle with the Isreali stock and mismatched parts. The rear band is on backwards, the sling bar normally is supposed to be on the left side of the rifle. If you can get a picture of the underside of the bolt handle root, the WaA acceptance stamps can give you an idea of who made the bolt body. Definitely an uncommon barreled action and provided the bore is good, I think you did fine.

Thanks for the information. I figured the barreled action was worth the risk of $400. The bore is dark but still has strong grooves. Just cleaned the barrel. It’s got a nail or something through holding the rear band in place. Going to need to figure out a good way of taking it out. Here is the bolt root. IMG_4790.jpeg

Do you know who made this bolt?

Well there's no waffenamts so there's that. What I see is a capital F and under that capital S perpendicular to the root and very close to where it joins the body. Do all the small parts match? Maybe they have some markings we could use?

As heavy_mech said, the lack of waffenamts makes judging this one difficult so any other waffenamts present on the bolt parts would be appreciated. Is there a Nazi firing proof on the back of the bolt root like the attached pic?

I think you should sell the stock and source a correct walnut example for it. Might be worth correcting as it is such an uncommon manufacturer

Found this circle marking.
That marking looks like the Chinese "sunburst" you find on Standard-Modells though the bolt itself lacks the Crown B and Crown U proofs found on Oberndorf made bolts for Standard-Modells. I would hazard a guess that it's either a Chinese made bolt or a bolt from a Chinese contract K98k.
