1934 Mauser Banner K - Thoughts/Opinions Welcome

Not normally a buy first ask questions later individual, but was at a pawn shop this afternoon and happened upon it. From my online sleuthing a Banner K model, “unattributed” due to no markings on the stock. I believe the bolt is a later replacement due to the serials not matching and “stick wing eagle/N”. Stock matched but hand guard has a penciled “13 or 73”, duffle cut repair has opened back up and sling is post war?

Welcome thoughts and opinions, don’t have volume 1 so appreciate any insight.

I assumed 8MM - I don’t think I have any more laying around to check. What other possibilities could it be chambered in?
 
8.15x46, but with the proofs that show just below the wood line I am curious. Does it have four lands or more for rifling?

I believe more, though I am not super familiar with how to check. Went with a quick google, looks like a standard rifling but a little wider in between

This exact rifle - what did it sell for? Curious what gives it away as/ makes it a Wehrmannsgewehr?

And I should say what are they valued at? I’m getting concerned this is going to be one of those “life lessons” 😂

A Banner doesn’t have this barrel length, the rifling is different on the 8.15 guns too. I was asking about the chambering since there has been work done to this rifle by the additional proofs, it may have been rebarreled by the looks of it. Possibly a Wehrmann converted to 8x57? What does the extractor look like, though it may not matter since it’s a m/m, but I would be curious to see.

It didn’t sell, the listing came down with no bids, I assume since you purchased it. It was listed in OH.

That makes sense, now that I really look closer you can easily see the difference. I’ll pull the bolt out in the AM, nothing jumped out to me on it, but doesn’t mean it isn’t different.

OH… yup, in OH guessing they just took it down after I bought it then.

Since the bolt is a mismatch to this odd rifle, make sure the bolt face and chamber are for the same round. Would seem unconventional to go to the trouble to reproof it and leave the wrong serial on the bolt.
 
In the first photo, the barrel is stamped ”7.9”.
Also, for a Banner K, isn’t the upper band pinned and not spring-retained?
Not 34 Banner K sling arrangement.
Stock too long.
Bands are incorrect.
Just going by the Book.

Even if a bolt mismatch that rifle is pretty!

Rifle appears to be commercial long rifle in standard 8mm and not a Wehrmannsgewehr (8.15x46R).
Regardless of the later wartime commercial bolt, an interesting rifle and certainly not common.
Also not a "Banner K"...

2 years ago it sold at Legacy for $1500 and now it was in a pawn shop who listed it on GB. That's somewhat curious.
 
I see the bore gauging on the barrel now, I couldn’t make it out in the shadow, it looked odd laking that. So have more of these been noted from Mauser or is it something new?
 
With all the photos presented, of this rifle, why are there no photos of the receiver ring markings?

QUESTION: Did Mauser manufacture the Gew. 98 at the same time they were manufacturing Standard Modells and/or Banner K models?
