Just showing of my latest purchase, a 1933 DRP banner. All matching complete with sling and muzzle cover. It's duffle cut under the rear band. My heart sank when I unwrapped it and found the safety broken in shipping. At least the broken piece was still in the box and I have reached out to a welder recommended in another thread.

It was wrapped in bubble wrap pretty well, but the box was kinda oversized and let it shift inside. I should have asked for it to be sent in a hardcase.

If You need and want the Safety fixed here is a good friend of mine who has done a number of repairs for other forum members and a few fixes were broken safety levers amongst other parts.

Thanks guys. I saw Andy recommended in another thread and will be sending it to him.
If You have a spare safety to send to Andy along with the damaged one I would suggest doing this that way he can replicate the repair on broken to match
the Undamaged one exactly .

The safety will still have to be detailed and Andy can't do that....contact me

You can thank the US Army for most of the Banner K rifles in the USA.
When the GIs captured areas of Germany, the district offices of the Reichsbahn and Reichspost were also surrendered or captured, and contained within some of those offices
were racks of lightly used Banner Ks. The city codes associated with them are in many cases regions or cities captured by units of the US Army.
"Dssd" is one of the more reported city codes as its assigned to Dusseldorf.

In some cases, city codes corresponding to areas not captured by US forces are likely due to units getting transferred westward (as in Berlin and Konigsberg).

The city code and unit marked Banner Ks are really interesting given we can locate the area where they were issued, thanks to these markings.

Wonderful rifle. And as Bruce said, really neat it can be connected to a particular city.

Too bad about the safety, but its definitely repairable.

Appears to have an early eight hole kar 98 type sling as well. Is the sling adjustment buckle a simple open frame type.

very nice rifle

Not to digress much from this superb rifle and thread but how are these safeties breaking? I had a DRP that the same thing happened to in shipping. Weak design at the connection point? Some specific type of shipping impact?

I think it's a combination of being a high point on the gun and very little metal at the connection point. Any real impact and it snaps right off.
