1917 Navy police rework

Recently acquired a 1917 Navy that was reworked during the Weimar period. New barrel, but does not appear that the balance of the pistol was refinished during overhaul for the police. No other indicators of police service such as a sear or mag safety, likely indicating acceptance by a police unit early on. Marked to the Schutzpolizei in Düsseldorf on the grip strap. Came with a later fxo black plastic bottomed magazine. An interesting Navy with more than one story to tell.

I like the Navy reworked to Police Lugers - they seem to show up now and again.

Indeed. I have a second one, similarly reworked, except that they replaced the barrel extension which does not contain a date, or any other stamps. Likely a 1917 as well, since the frame is so marked. It does, however, have a grip-strap marked with an Ost See fleet number and an S/42 stamped matching magazine.
