1917 Amberg Gew98m (EWB) with wild duffle cut repair

Howdy, I suppose this one could go in any of the Mauser sections but Weimar seemed most appropriate. I believe this is the original stock, but not 100%. The bolt is mismatched and the rear sight components are 3R 3/63 marked. The rear capture screw is also e/63.

The duffle cut repair is one of the strangest I've ever seen. The wrist has an arsenal stamp that I can't make out. Mg6? M96? Can't tell. Non-import marked.

The bore was advertised as excellent but is actually extremely frosty. Unfortunate but still a keeper in my view. I imagine it’s seen and done a lot!

Perhaps add the right receiver acceptance and the receiver code as described here:

I added the details possible but the RR would be most helpful; I linked the rifle report to this thread.

Am I seeing that right? Is that a spring-loaded metal rod in the cleaning rod hole (with part of it carved out) being used to tension the duffel cut to the rest of the stock?

Absolutely, I'll have to look it over once I get home from work.

Indeed, but the spring tension is acting AGAINST the rest of the stock, presumably to make up for the width of the saw cut.
