1915 CG Haenel Gew 98

Yeah, rarity doesn't necessarily translate to price in the Imperial world. Generally speaking, rifles are much harder to find from World War I, there simply aren't as many collectors to fight over them. Prices have ticked up in recent years though, as more people have entered this segment.

Agreed, I did get into a bid war for a Gewehr 98 2? Years ago that I think was a sterngewehr with a CG hanel or may have been a Kornbusch example (pulling hard from memory here because I mainly remember the disappointment with not going after the USMC rebuild 1903 I was looking at because I was interested in the Gewehr 98 more and could only afford one of'em) Went for 3200 or 3300 and I was sitting at 25 to 2700 throughout the whole auction and figured it was high enough no one would be interested cause of the open bid price. Until the very last 15 mins and two other bidders got after it. Was a really nice and well maintained example that would be on par with what you guys go for for matching examples.

It wasn't all that long ago when collectors were amazed at a sweet WOK breaking 1K! These days $1k is the opening bid for such a rifle!

When’s the last time a 1915 wok became available for sale?

For public sales there was a sanded 15 WOK on broker a year or two back. I believe Chris got one off broker in 2020 or 2021 also.

I know of a private sale in 2022 as well. That rifle was member to member and posted here.
