1915/16 WMO Gew98 Bond Rifle (and "Spill-over" suffixes at WMO?)

I'm glad this Gew has brought up some discussion on the subject of when a Gew was serial numbered. I had assumed that it would have been numbered when it was completed, but the idea that this was the last of the 1915 run--and serialed as such--but actually completed in 1916 in intriguing. Too bad WMO is so consistent on receiver acceptance! But for now i will place it at the end of 1915 production in the reference.

Yeah, I think I'd classify this as the last gasp of 1915 rather than 16. My guess would be early January 1916 assembly. The fact that the 1915 high was early "x" block really helps bracket this one and, in my opinion provides strong evidence for "extra innings" to finish out years at WMO
