Hi All,

I was lucky enough to get this one from CLG a couple of years ago. I never posted it, as there were some pics in his original post. I had a few rifles out over the weekend, so I thought I'd give this one a proper photo shoot with my new rig.

Not much to say other than it lived a comparably easy life to most 1914s I've seen. Everything matches except for the front screw and cleaning rod. I added a really nice 1914-dated sling from Mike and an early nickel plated muzzle cap to complete the look.

Holy smokes! That really is one fine Gew98. This rifle must have sat in a barracks or office or something. I can’t imagine it saw much of the trenches. Thanks for sharing Chris!

Wow, that's an exceptional gewehr!
Thanks Mike! I appreciate you helping me complete it with that nice 1914 sling!

Awesome Chris! And a named Simson sling. First one I’ve ever seen. . Very cool!
Thanks Rick-- I've seen a few of them, but i don't think they are terribly common.

That’s a really nice piece of wood on that one especially for a 1914…I really love the Oberndorf Gew 98’s
Thanks Jory, definitely a condition rarity for a tough year. The stock really held up well!

Thanks Hale! I'm inclined to think this one was in a quiet part of the front. I'm not necessarily a condition fiend, i think it's a fallacy to apply k98k standards to these, but I sure do appreciate the nice ones like this when they pop up!

Old war horse in great condition. I like guns like that.
Wow! I would love to have something like that in my collection. Outstanding example!
Thanks gents!

Outstanding WMO and great photos! I replaced the thread in the reference, but here's the original for the discussion: https://www.k98kforum.com/threads/my-mo-gew98-1914.41120/
This is a really exceptional gun Chris! Hard to beat 1914s especially one like that.
Thanks Cyrus and Sam!
