1910 Danzig K98a warhorse

As stated by me:

•The top hand-guard was cut into two pieces. The rear part (rear sight section) is matching. The front part, is from another piece of wood/rifle. The only marking is an “R” and some “scribble”. Any idea what rifle this may of come from? I would think the original front section was broken/lost over time.

Sure enough, figured out the front part of the hand guard is actually from a 1917 Enfield. Specifically a Remington made one, “R”. Just took apart a factory correct R 1917. Noticed the same “R”.

Kind of interesting. Makes me think the hand guard replacement may be period…
