Hi All,
This was one I really liked in Mike's collection, but I bought other rifles and Jory ended up with it originally. After giving it an excellent home for the last year or so, he reached out one day and offered it to me knowing that I was a fan of it.
It arrived last week and thought it was worth a fresh photo spread, as Mikes photos were good, but the post is about 10 years old now.
The rifle is factory matching and came outfitted with a beautiful 1st pattern sling and a correct pre-war nickel plated lid. The wood is immaculate except for a repaired crack in the handguard and some possible band slippage damage on the forend. (This was a documented problem that eventually culminated with the redesign of the rear band during the interwar period.) The only other knock is that an older collector cleaned the metal at one point. It's beginning to re-age naturally, but the cleaning still stands out a bit. Given that it's a factory 1909 though, it's a minor quibble. I'm still very happy to be the caretaker of this one.
