This is one of my favorite guns in my collection. Everything is matching, except for the rod. I believe this is an original sling as well, but you guys would know more about that than I would. Interesting that the S cartouch on the buttstock has been X'd out. I have read about that but don't recall why that is at the moment. The imperial cartouches on the stock are pretty good for as beat up as it is. Luckily, nobody sanded the stock or fooled arpund with the metal. Also, has this rear sight been updated for the S cartridge? Again, I have no idea what the unit stamp stands for....I'm thinking something about a reserve unit. It has an excellent bore, but I haven't slugged it to see what it measures yet. Looks like it had a dust cover at one time according to the pattern of the patina.
