Hi, brand new member. I was with my dad when he bought this rifle. Sitting at a local bar in WI - it must have been the late 70's, I was a teen. The owner showed my dad the rifle and my dad gave him $17 for it. I remember the amount because it seemed really cheap. I thought the long range sight was really cool. I don't think he ever shot it. Years later a good friend of my brother's was visiting and my dad gave him the Mauser. Reportedly he tried it out and it shot really well. My dad is long gone and my brother's friend recently passed on. I was talking to my brother and his friend had returned the rifle to him several years ago. I asked my brother for some photos and here is what he sent. I have no idea why the stock has that ugly notch cut out but otherwise the condition seems like it's still pretty good from the pics. He will get me some more pics later today. I told him it was likely fairly valuable but I really have no idea. My dad had another Mauser that is still in the family. It was sporterized and he shot some nice deer with it around the 1950 time frame. I included a pic of my dad with one of those deer mounts.
