    G98 100 yd POA solutions?

Hello all, so my 1915 G98, I want to shoot at targets 100 yards away. According to my research, only have 2 options since it is an original bring back with the front site staked as it was 109 years ago: 1. Aim low, 6 o'clock hold at 12-18" below target. 2. Temporary/reversable mod up the front...

1943 ar matching sporter - restoration UPDATE

Yeah, it was loose, I noticed that after I posted the pics. The band spring was backwards, all set right now. Good eye!

1943 ar matching sporter - restoration UPDATE

Restoration Update: I have completed a restoration of this rifle. Not perfectly correct as I would like, but it looks good. I found a nice earlier stock (37-40) at a gun show that cleaned up really well and fit perfectly. If I happen to see a period and factory correct stock, I will consider...

    1915 Amberg Gewehr 98

    1915 Amberg Gewehr 98

Ahhh, ok the splotchy uneven blueing on the receiver and bolt were done post military service. A restoring project to white for those parts is in order. The firing pin on this one is non matching, but it looks like it has been re-tiped as you mentioned. Not done well, kinda crooked and obvious...

    1915 Amberg Gewehr 98

Hello, all... Last week, I was in my favorite local antique gunshop and saw a1915 Amberg Gewehr 98 in seemingly in somewhat original condition. Mostly matching serials. Shoots, feeds, cycles well, no import marks, barrel in very good condition. It does have a few issues: - mismatched serial...

1943 ar matching sporter - restoration UPDATE

Yep, no insult taken. I have removed, inspected and cleaned the release assembly. There are no obvious bent or broken parts. I finally got the bolt to release correctly by pulling really hard on the bolt stop lever. I can do it reliably now. The rifle looks to have been unused & unloved for a...

1943 ar matching sporter - restoration UPDATE

Yes, I understand that it swings out, but not far enough to release the bolt. Like I said it only lacks 1mm to clear the bolt lug. I can see on the release where the bolt is hitting when swung out.

1943 ar matching sporter - restoration UPDATE

Great info, thanks. I will do that! Yes, the lip remains to fit the top handguard to. One other issue that I am sure someone will point out in the pics is the missing bolt stop /ejector. I have removed it to remove and clean the bolt. I am not able to remove the bolt by the traditional way of...

1943 ar matching sporter - restoration UPDATE

Good morning, new member here. I recently purchased a 1943 ar matching serial numbers rifle that has been sporterized. The rifle looks to be in excellent condition except for the stock. The stock has been sporterized, all cavities in the stock have been filled (sling and firing pin extractor)...
