Newbie- I want to learn about this 44 Model 98

Your barreled action looks complete, as in if one wanted to, it would be a lot easier to restore back to military configuration. However, being that it's a family heirloom, and was sporterized longer than it wasn't at this point, I'd say leave it as-is. My great grandfather brought back 3...

    Portuguese K98 new imports

Pardon, but what / who is this "sweaty ben" that I always read about on this forum? I hope he didn't get into these Portuguese K98ks from Centerfire, because I just ordered one yesterday! Lol. Thanks!

Just bought one, will make a post on how it turns out! I opted for the bolt mismatch rifle

    DOT 1944 K98k

Thanks! That will help a lot should I decide to attempt and rebuild it to a period correct rifle. Out of curiosity, do you know roughly what happened to the DOT make guns, as in where they were sent for issue? Mine is not import marked, but I see it far more likely to end up on the Eastern front...

    DOT 1944 K98k

Hi fellow collectors, asking about the same K98k I have in the past. I recently got a DOT 1944 with S/N 190XX a (a-block). I was wondering what style barrel bands and what stock / stock details would be correct. From recent studies I see mostly Kreigsmodel features on the single letter block...

Sorry for late reply, but thanks! Cool to hear

DOT 1944 Floor Plate / Stock.

There is an intact but faded waffenampt (sorry if I butchered that spelling) on the right side of the stock, dead center. It has a word under it but I can't make the word out. I'll update later if I find the DOT on the heel.

DOT 1944 Floor Plate / Stock.

I'm aware of the Kriegsmodel stock, but not the semi-kriegs. What are the differences (if there aren't too many to list)?

DOT 1944 Floor Plate / Stock.

Hi all. Wanting to learn more about my new DOT 1944 K98k. S/N 190XX, a-block. Off the bat, I'm aware it's non-matching and some parts may not be period correct, i.e. the stock I'm about to inquire about. I had questions on two parts on this rifle specifically (for now lol). 1) Floor plate. I...

Oh ok cool, I live in Islip, plan on moving down the line as well lol! There are a lot of milsurps on the island oddly enough but not worth not having gun rights and no money in my pocket lol

New member from NY, and second K98k

Hi all, my name's Paul and I'm from Long Island, NY. I'm joining this thread because a friend recommended me to do so, but also because I want to learn about "wut I got". I had recently bought my second K98k. I left a recent gun show with a DOT code (Waffenwerke Brunn, I believe) K98k from 1944...
