1914 Amburg with interesting duffle cut repair

Congrats on getting a nice early war Amberg! 1914 dated examples are rather uncommon compared to later years given the 4 years of service they would have seen and attrition rates early on. I'm inclined to agree on the idea of blood staining. This one also appears to have never been depot...

    1916 JP Sauer

That's a stunner of a rifle, congrats on getting such a minty one! Those acceptance stamps are nice and crisp and the ejector spring fire‐blue is an awesome touch. What house do I have to tear down to find one like that?!

    AX41 D Block

That's a really nice rifle, congrats! I really like the stock and acceptance stamps on this one.

    Stock question

Yes, some manufacturers would stamp internal inspection and process stamps there, Mauser Oberndorf in particular seems fond of stamping their stocks with these markings, both my 1940 and 1943 MO K98ks are marked there.

    1943 bcd

Congrats on picking up a nice one! That's a gorgeous rifle, a nice mix of subcontractor parts and an interesting repair. I've never seen anything like that before, and the awesome pictures certainly help to show it, thanks for sharing!

    Purchasing a k98 byf 42 cc block - authentic?

Definitely looking like a good one. I still would like to see the floorplate and trigger guard serials, but the other numbers look good. I'd also be curious to see the underside of the bolt root to see if it's Mauser Oberndorf made or FN supplied. The follower is from FN (E/140).

1911 Spandau sn. 5688a… bad bolt?

Thanks for sharing an example of a faked Imperial Gewehr 98. It's my first time seeing one. Sad to see it given the far lower survival rates of these, but thankfully, this is the place to sort out fakes from legit armorer parts with all the knowledge this forum and its members have.

    Dk productions MP44

Nice to know that these haven't had any reliability issues and that they shoot well! Do these have a chrome lined barrel or any barrel lining at all? Looking forward to hearing back for accuracy results!

Suhl Consortium M1849 Marinegewehr / City of Philadelphia

Wow, that's a fascinating history for what would be such an unassuming firearm to most. And to think that this one survived intact all this time makes it a very cool smoke pole! I'd definitely be interested in hearing some good reference sources so I can start reading up more on these neat muskets.

    Depot/field repaired rifle value?

While you and I and every other young collector got in now when prices are high, the information available now is way more thorough and detailed than what was around in the '90s. There's a lower chance of getting burned now if you're able to use that information effectively. The only prices I...

Weird crap you find in old guns

So far, I've only found dried grease when I take actions out of stocks. Weirdest thing I saw though was an AR lower mated with an M16A1 upper that someone managed to install the hammer spring backwards in on the lower. Jesus, that had to be terrifying.

Reserve Infanterie Regiment 55 Set (1909 DWM, Unit History, and Post Card)

That's an awesome grouping, congrats on getting such a nice pre war rifle! The extra post card and unit history really make it a great grouping!

Questions About ar 42 Marked Mauser

There is mention in Rough Forged (new revision is nearly complete though, this is the original published version) on Page 230 to the document you are referring to, where Point 1 of the agenda being the investigation of the Sauer group producing the G41(W) was cancelled by Mauser director Holl in...

Questions About ar 42 Marked Mauser

Thanks for clarifying on Mauser Berlin production, I didn't know that they were considered a potential manufacturer of Gewehr 41(W)s and the use of dual codes being a result of that. Your data on 1941 K98ks is quite interesting, I always thought that the low numbers of 41s in the US was a...

Questions About ar 42 Marked Mauser

Gonna need a lot more pictures of the bolt serial numbers, barrel bands, rear sight, receiver, etc to verify original matching status but it looks nice and $700 is a steal for a non RC K98k these days. The stock and handguard will be numbered internally so you'll need to pull the barreled action...

    Mauser BYF 45 a Block K98 Matching

Congrats on an excellent byf 45, love the wood and bolt on this one! I have to wonder where you all manage to find such nice 1945 dated rifles... You and me both!

    Second rifle

The ce 44 is the receiver code for a JP Sauer K98k assembled in 1944. The Eagle over 37 right above the ce is the final acceptance of the rifle, and 37 is the numerical code assigned to JP Sauer from 1939 on. The Gothic script "Mod. 98" indicates the receiver was supplied to Sauer by Feima, as...

    1915 VCS 4674e Rastatt Rework

It would be interesting if documents ever surfaced as to assigned serial blocks for the 3 firms considering there's overlap within the same letter blocks. Hopefully, more come out of the woodwork to continue to trend these rifles.
