    33/40 opinions

Dave, they are supposed to be, 33/40’s are originally staked, but I’ve only ever seen one factory stake per screw, that’s where my question lies. I’ve only seen a couple of 33/40’s that never had the screws turned, they are very seldomly encountered, wish I could find one.

    33/40 opinions

I picked this one up last year local and my only hang up buying it were the screw stakes. In the end I decided I could live with it, but wasn’t sure what to think. I wondered if it perhaps saw postwar use somewhere, or perhaps the additional stakes are wartime somehow. Has anyone seen a 33/40...

    1917 DWM Gewehr 98 4656 l

They are a thin sleeve with integral sight block, that’s soldered on and then filed true with the barrel, the muzzle must be cut after the fact as they often look seamless. Figure slightly different steel composition likely turned the sleeve a different color with time. It’s a common sight to...

    G41 Magazine Follower Issue

What are the details, all original components? 41 mags are fairly susceptible to damage, many are dented or compressed, which could cause this.

Unusual bolt shroud machining on that one.

Ha! My favorite part of this one was the thick butt :D see picture two. Perhaps this is more common than I realize, but in hand it is noticeably thick just forward of the buttplate. You can see where roughly the last inch was shaped down to meet the buttplate contour, I thought that was neat.

    G98/K98K Conversion, 1915 Amberg

There was, but they used a front sight base over the barrel, and painted the metal black, and used G98m’s from the SCW, this is a bub job instead, well not that those weren’t, ha.

No, it’s just cut down Gew98 in a Chilean 1912 stock.

    1944 Oberndorf NLB zf41

Bruce or Jeremy could give way better input here, but it appears Oberndorf got a run of HG’s from a subcontractor; maybe surplus from the depot system. I don’t know if they show up sporadically later on, but I see them on early 1944 production, and to date I’ve seen both laminate and walnut...

    1944 Oberndorf NLB zf41

Much appreciated guys, I had always loved the looks of a walnut zf! Navyguy, it was a good deal, but not an auction. Hang in there and keep watching the market. There are way too many variables to ever say this is worth this or that, you just have to get a feel for it, and just when you...

    Price Check: byf 43

To me, sanding that bad is a 30-50% hit on value alone. For barely more a much nicer example auctioned this month, and they are hardly in the same category. https://www.gunbroker.com/item/979121875

    1944 Oberndorf NLB zf41

This one popped up last week, and it has some pretty cool attributes. The stock is a rejected walnut piece with a secondary inspection at the wrist. The HG is e/c10 which seems to be common in this range, but it’s elm. The stock also has a small “2” just right of the rear bridge, I presume...

    Identifying a WWII(?) era bolt.

Just snapped a picture of one from 1942 and it’s not an Oberndorf action in the least.
