Interesting Spandau 1918, I need your advice...

Thanks for the information. So, I assume the sling needs to be replaced with the proper G98 German sling, right? I wonder if there's any chance that in 1918 they could have used an export sling as "ersatz". Probably zero chances of that...I guess someone just added this in modern times.

Thanks for your support. I will definitely try to buy it. You know how it is—wanting something doesn't guarantee you'll get it. I'm not the only one who noticed it, but I'm working on it. We'll see. Hopefully, I'll get lucky in a couple of weeks.

Interesting Spandau 1918, I need your advice...

When it comes to the "WiS" stamp, the location where it was found suggests it is unlikely to be a bring-back scenario. Could you tell me a bit more about the Hannover assembly? What makes it so special? I'll need to check Dieter Storz's book on this. I went through it briefly today but didn't...

Interesting Spandau 1918, I need your advice...

What are your thoughts on the sling, guys? It's more or less similar to the standard G98 one, but a couple of details are different. Could it be a rework? I've never seen such a variant among the standard German slings.

Interesting Spandau 1918, I need your advice...

Hi there, I'm looking for some advice. I recently came across a beautiful G98 and I'm considering buying it. Initially, I thought it hadn't been touched since WW1 and was preserved in its original condition. Unfortunately, I can't understand a couple of the stamps and details, which is...

    Need help identifying k98, 29/40 ?

It could be one of the Polish exports for the Spanish Civil War. Looks quite similar. I'm only surprised by the front sight, usually, they got typical Polish sights.

    1918 Amberg Gewehr 98

That's one of the things that I have doubts about... in Dieter Storz's book on page 95 there is even a photograph of blued 1918 Amberg, compared to the 1917 Amberg with the polished and shiny receiver. I don't know the history of my rifle, but this is the shape it was found in. No idea why mine...

1916 Spandau Gew.98 Polish Rework by FB Radom

That detail caught my eyes: Is it "Bóg" scratched into the wood? In Polish that stands for "God"... really interesting thing. Never seen something like this before.

    Gew 98 Stock Finishes

Just out our curiosity, do we know any photographs from the late war showing these super light Amberg Beech/Train-oil stocks in use? Please post a sample if that's possible, I wonder if there is a chance to spot such a bright stock in soldiers' hands.

Thank you ;) I don't think it was at RIA, I found it in Poland and believe it was imported from Germany.

    1918 Amberg Gewehr 98

Hi everyone, Here are a couple of photos of my 1918 Amberg. I bought it a few months ago. The rifle is all matching, the sling was added by me recently. The stock is beech wood and probably finished with Train oil. I'm not sure if the front sight is the original one, seems to be a bit higher...

    Gew 98 Stock Finishes

Thank you, that was my guess... it's super light when it comes to the color of the wood. I wonder, so is this 3-time applied Train oil finish as it is supposed to be done during production by the manufacturer? That's all? All the markings are perfectly visible, so I don't think it was ever...

    Gew 98 Stock Finishes

Good read, thanks for sharing. Some time ago I bought that Amberg 1918 and I'm wondering about the stock's details. Is that a linseed or train oil finish? The rifle is 100% matching.
