    1910 Spandau G.98M

WuK 27-30 is correct, maybe a stray is possible but it hasn't been seen; generally WuK is 27-30 (all known 29 are RM (navy- which adds weight to the recent thread on dating the navy contract range 98b that group in the e-block. RM was starved pre-28 and the 1929 budget made commercial contracts...

    1910 Spandau G.98M

WuK started in 1927 but unit marked to Jager, pioneer and late 27 RM; 98/05 is probably most appropriate in this G98M situation, but I use to really liked the Republican WuK/WKC for their rarity, coolness & diversity

    1910 Spandau G.98M

Good analysis given, hard to make up a reason to post further.... but a small elaboration to further Chris's post 15; the addition of the forth acceptance (Crown/D) is rather common as far as reworking-rebarreling during the war, they are probably the most encountered variation and always (hate...

    BTW, outstanding example Georg!

    Reichsmarine Simson Gew.98b to Gew.98

This is in the RM range and all that are stock matching are Gew.98 config. which suggest a unique pattern, that this is also the range Gew.98b SR is only used (often x'd out, but not always) and the fact almost all with original stocks carry RM unit marks of RM acceptance suggests these were...

    GEW 98 Bolt Identification

I do not know why I forgot to mention the bolt code would be more accurate... go to this link and compare the serial, suffix & code. It should narrow the date range considerably (if you can get around the mumbo jumbo and Loewe speak...)...

    GEW 98 Bolt Identification

Amberg; 1917-1918 most probably; some acceptance overlap in late 1916-early 1917 ***suffix could tighten the range

    Choice between 2 K98's AX41 or 42 1939

In trends about (almost) double in observations, 180 to about 300, but I do not always trend byf in lesser grades or poorly imaged so the disparity is probably larger. An ERMA I would save if it were identifiable to serial-maker-date. I would get the better condition, if equal I would get ERMA...

    Choice between 2 K98's AX41 or 42 1939

Two auctions 2-3 months apart in 2014, there are more pics but attached are the "highlites". 1939/42 need a serial if interest remains on it, probably don't have it anyway as byf's are all the same generally, - I like the "eclectic" (diverse) makers for trends work as I trend patterns and changes.

    1874 FV Dreyse/Soemmerda Gewehr 71 #8070 (née #7481)

Doesn't answer the question really but thought it would help illustrate the subject, - but clearly C/RC is as old as United Germany, some pre-unification collector may be able to say whether it has Prussian origins?

    1874 FV Dreyse/Soemmerda Gewehr 71 #8070 (née #7481)

Added to the study, with a direct link here... I still wonder if Dreyse rolled serialing over each year or whether serialed consecutively. They are a tough maker to pontificate over, damn rare in anycase... Great pick-up!

Looking for input as to what this gun is & how it likely developed

Germans never made barrels in Poland, SDP-Radom made many rifle parts in occupied Poland but excluded barrels, but it is speculated Radom forged or supplied blanks or raw forgings early on, but if so these were probably prewar leftovers utilized by SDP upon its custodianship (management for the...
