    ajack 4x90 scope

Here is a link to War time production your Ajack 4X90 is not the same . Also Ajack Scopes marked with Germany is known to be PW https://www.k98kforum.com/threads/ajack-high-turret-scope-51855-for-byf-rifle-16321.47994/

    ZEISS FAMILY SCOPES

IMO the Zeiss Zielviers with these range marking 1-2,3,4 are most likely hunter donated scope also if you notice the range marking are same as found on P.Kohler SSR Polizei rifles , that would suggest to me that these Scope ended up being used on Polizei SSR Rifles . I also noticed the serial #...

Sauer SSR prototype with offset feed ramp

Georg I know the Bases are different and hole placement also , I posted them with the Mounts as these are the Bases that came with these Mounts and also to show was different SSR Mounts & Bases were being developed and used . It is the Mounts that I was mainly referring too as both of them I...

Sauer SSR prototype with offset feed ramp

The Mount & Base on the Side Rail Sniper Rifle Bruce posted is without any doubt longer in length than that of the Standard SS SSR , Sauer or Mauser Standard Model SSR Conversion Mounts & Bases .

Sauer SSR prototype with offset feed ramp

Georg`s comment about the SSR Base looking longer made me look closer at this photo . I went and looked at a couple of my SSR Rifles in fact this Base does look longer than the production SSR Bases . Intern that also reminded me of the 2 intermediateUnKnown type of SSR Mounts and Bases I have in...

    P. Kohler SSR Set

Still looking Rick , IMO this is the rarest and hardest SSR to find . I know of 2 surviving examples both in European Collections . This is my Grail SSR for sure . Maybe one day .

    Sniper pictures

OK , here is a copy of same photo , I have seen several of this reprint sell over past few years . I never bought a copy because of the Eagle Swastika on box and it screamed fake/reprint . As for the one we are discussing now it does differ from the one I posted slightly . I did not purchase the...

    Sniper pictures

I also think it has a flat butt plate stock . If you look closely at the top of the range dial you can see it has a focus knob

    Sniper pictures

The soldier is SS Scharführer and their usually not a sniper, so he might be armorer . I disagree on Scope , Scope is Zeiss Zielvier IMO , take a closer look at Saddle & Dial , Mount is a Type III SSR

    Carl Zeiss

The only Scope that used Aluminum Parts is the Dialytan BMJ Scopes in 74XXX serial range . Only the front & rear lens housings were made of Aluminum and Tube was Steel . Here is Link to one such example > https://www.k98kforum.com/threads/my-new-ht.4690/

    1937 Oberndorf Mauser K98 w Dialytan 4x Scope

I have no idea what the # 2 means . but many not all Mounts & Bases have a pairing number , I added a couple pics . Check your mount & Base to see if there are pairing numbers on either Mount & Base and see if they match . This will help determine if there original or not and whether the pairing...

    Carl Zeiss

A non numbered range dial does not indicate if the scope is WW2 or not .

    Carl Zeiss

Does Your scope look like this on the underside , if so it made for Suhler Type Mounts and a commercial/civilian variant .

    1937 Oberndorf Mauser K98 w Dialytan 4x Scope

Mount looks like it could maybe an Original UnUsed/UnIssued Mount , but I would not want to make that call using these photos . If Mount was used it would have a rifle number stamped into it . Do You have a pic showing if the Base has a # on the rear end of it . I posted a sample pic in my...

    1937 Oberndorf Mauser K98 w Dialytan 4x Scope

IMO the only thing that may have become interesting is whether or not the SSR Mount is an original Mount or Not and also possibly the Base . Hopefully Michael will be able to get the pics I requested if he does not already have them , it will be interesting to see what the pics show .

    1937 Oberndorf Mauser K98 w Dialytan 4x Scope

Michael Can You Please post Pics of the Mount and the Base showing rifle number . If You don't have pics can You get them . In this one photo you posted I can see the locking lever has a #11 this is typical of an original SS SSR Mount not a Reproduction Mount . Thank You

    C Gerard scope

Scope is Pre WW2 . Value would be $125 to $225 max . I will also point out it is missing the focus ring which certainly affects the value .
