Emil Busch Rathenow Visar Gewehr No. 1511

Your scope is a historical piece from WWI, a commercial scope probably used on military Gewehr 98.

"correct" scope for unnumbered Zf41 mounts

This is the point our discussion does not match. Why, on what purpose do you think the mount was numbered? Only because it was a rule for the ZF41 program? I had been saying the reason was to keep the calibrated scope and the rifle together. If it was intended to be used as a serious weapon, the...

"correct" scope for unnumbered Zf41 mounts

Isn’t the first part also ZF42? “… simplified design (6 lenses) was originally ZF42? later finally …” I totally agree with you that if they had spare scopes they will not hesitate to use them. So this is why K98k-Zf41 were still manufactured in late 1944 to early 1945. And they were not...

"correct" scope for unnumbered Zf41 mounts

Great find and information! So this was what Mr.Senich was refering in his book. Thank you very much.

    ZF41 Study

I have acquired a copy of newly published magnificent book and was shocked to find out the knowledgeable author still stuck into the prejudice that the first of the 1.5 powered scopes were made as the “Z.f.40”. He even says only about 3,000 of them were made and remarked later for the use with...

A video of Ian McCollum's on Forgotten Weapons: "ZF-41: Germany's Worst Sniper Scope" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBstpqUAniw&feature=emb_logo Thank you Ian for refering to my website. Indeed, ZF41 is worst scope for a Sniper!

"correct" scope for unnumbered Zf41 mounts

I have heard of the information on ZF41s in France after the war. I believe the story involves the truth on eccentric kov ZF41/1s. I wish to know the whole story someday. Anyway. Again, my opinion is that from the lack of the surviving example, it cannot be said definitely that numbered mounts...

"correct" scope for unnumbered Zf41 mounts

Marking serial# on the mount is NOT like omitting K98k rifle serial# here and there on the rifle parts late war. It is not a fancy. It has a necessity just to keep the scope and the rifle together and to show the scope is adjusted. No matter it is a sniper or not, if it is a serious weapon, the...

"correct" scope for unnumbered Zf41 mounts

Nice rifle and scope Xavier! The scope is Type2 and likely to be from byf43, but can’t say it was never used with byf44. Here are two pictures of captured K98k-Zf41 from ETO report dated 14 Feb. 1945. The rifle is byf44 F block. (Let me know if I am wrong.) The scope is Type3 ZF41/1, not...

    ZF41 Study

ETO Report Hello Perhaps you will find this more interesting. It is the ETO Ordnance Technical Report on ZF41/1 dated 14 Feb. 1945. See my website for more information. http://zielfernrohr.b.la9.jp/ The rifle is byf44 50691f. And the mismatched scope is numbered 49712f. I believe they were...

    Sniper manual D136/2

Matt, thank you for the info. As I had been saying, the ZF41 project was not the result of the request from the commanders after the campaign in Poland. There was already a plan to equip the infantry squad with a Zielfernrohrgewehr, and the project was already moving, although it seems to be not...

    Sniper manual D136/2

Since the information on German rifle scopes are totally obscure, there are still some people calling every K98k sniper rifle with 4 (or 6) power scopes “ZF39”. I had been thinking, at least, it is safe to say this is clearly wrong. The manual D134 “Das Zielfernrohr 39” only describes Zeiss...

    Sniper manual D136/2

Hello, I have re-typed the German Sniper Manual D136/2 "Karabiner 98k mit handelsüblichen Zielfernrohren" and shared it on the web. http://zielfernrohr.b.la9.jp/zielfernrohr_095.htm It lists several Commercial scopes on Low Turret and Short Side Rail mounts. Interesting is that although it...

    ZF41 Study

Great find and thank you for sharing! In the old book "The German Sniper 1914-1945" by Peter R. Seich on the page214, there is a picture of ZF41 with a lower serial number of KKW on the mount. The caption says: A "ddv" code ZF41 sight originally paired with a Gustloff KKW rifle (143635)...

bmj flat roller scope and the case

Always thank you for sharing Information! Indeed, a very nice complete set. bmj ZF41 are very interesting. bmj and cxn are the only maker which made very early scopes without designation "ZF41" and only marked "ZF". Yet bmj stopped making ZF41 much earlier.

new variant of zf41 cxn marking

Very nice find Xavier!! And thank you for the information. This is a re-designated model of Type3, presumably the original marking was "ZF40". From my database, the Type3 modified model is between 145k to 153k serial range. Yours is 189k and there is another same type now on the net, serial#...
