I have a 1940 Luger that I believe was put together late in the war with spare/replacement parts. Serial number 7225 all matching, HZajt20, 1940 byf, Erfurt frame. Even the inside of the sideplate was numbered correctly with 72+1.

One additional note on the gun.
When I purchased it I was not aware of the duffle cut. When I first dissembled it out fell a 1945 Lincoln penny. I can only guess that the vet who did the duffle cut put the penny in as a spacer. The dings are from the cleaning rod.
