Kahles H/4x60 on Sauer HT

Absolut

Senior Member
Since we were just discussing on Kahles scopes and assembly numbers, attached pictures of a recent addition - a Kahles H/4x60 scope, used by J. P. Sauer & Sohn on rifle #1020. The fixture screw is missing for the elevation adjustment (as well as the screw between rear ring middle and top part being wrong), otherwise it is original. The recently discussed assembly number used by Kahles is shown in detail on the scope tube (front bottom) and ocular piece.

Another Sauer Turret Scope that has the Sunshade in the white/no black paint , this I believe is the 3rd one I have seen that has the Sunshade in the white .
I suspect the scopes will be close in serial range to each other

was just lookin at my LSR H/4x60, it has the assembly number on the ocular as well. i cant find the one on the tube but im not removing the mount/rings. would the number be located under the ring in front of the recoil lug?

not important i guess, just kinda curious.

thx guys!

Gene

Here is another H/4x60. Also doesn't have any finish on the sunshade.

Good hint Dave, I missed to address the inside of the sunshade does have paint on it. Therefore I cannot outrule someone "polished" the outside.

Gene, the assembly number is covered by the LSR mount rings, if you have it in LSR mount. Note the LSR mount has the "rings" more forward than the turret mount. I'm very certain they are there, no need for you to check.

This one from my collection it's not with turret rings but it has the assembly numbers too . By the way the sunshade here has black external finish .

Nice Scope Georg. Here are my Kohl's H4X60 Scopes. 1 Sauer CE LT, 1 BYF HT, and 2 Sauer LSR Scopes with one in a mount. I think they all had black paint and some scopes the black paint has worn off. All of mine have assembler numbers. The assembler number on the one LSR Scope is under the band. A couple have Arctic Sun Shades.

Nice scope and rifle Matt. I have never seen another Sauer Kahles H4X60 on Sauer Rings again to buy. Mine Sauer H4X60 is on Mauser BYF Rings. Then again I have never seen another BNZ Single Rune for sale. Thanks for the trade. I really like the Single Rune Rifle.

My take is the sunshades were all painted and the paint just wore off or was removed.. You can see a tiny trace of paint of black paint in the slot on the top scope.
Paint does not adhere well on that type of pot metal.

Matt the one You posted is one of the 3 that I mentioned . The scope on Your Rifle , I recall had absolutely no traces of black painting anywhere on the sunshade not even around the pin that in the sunshade for holding on the Arctic Sunshade . I know this because that scope belonged to me before it went to Brian and then to You .

I would be interested to hear if Georg`s HT Scope shows any traces of black paint and to see how close in serial range is scope is to the one Matt has pictured . Everyones entitled to their opinion , but in the end its just an opinion . I am more interested in finding out what was done originally maybe the sunshades were left in white or maybe not . It is also possible that all were painted black , I can't say with any certainty if some or all were painted . IMO its worth investigating .

Brians Image also perfectly illustrates the different length of the rainshields I also noticed. Have to make a group pic myself..

Hello, I realize this is an old post but I found it and need some assistance. I have this same scope but can’t seem to figure out how to adjust for windage. I’ve been told there is a “key”? Do you have information that will help (picture of the key, where does the key go to adjust, steps to adjust, etc)?? Many thanks in advance!!

Windage adjustment is done within the rear scope ring of the turret mount. The scope itself doesn‘t have windage adjustment.

as far as the black paint on the KHALES OR CAD is concerned, I've never seen one without paint on the zamac lens hood, for me it's used to protect this fragil alloy in case I'm looking for a KHALES LT????

Hello Attila
This is the 41011 I need, and since we tried it on my CE44 we know it fits perfectly.
But since you don't want to sell it to me... I'm crying
