Tulsa gun show

Next weekend is the big Tulsa gun show. I'll be looking for a matching, or possibly close to matching common date/code WWII K98k. I'll also be looking at Russian captured rifles.
I've haven't been to this show for over 20 years.
What should I expect on K98k availability and prices at this show?

K98K's worth collecting (outside of sniper rifles, wish I had 25k to have been able to buy the SSZZA2 double claw in 2023 that was there) is almost non existent unless you are able to make connections with other collectors and just happen to get lucky as well. That exact show where I seen the sniper, a guy was able to get a attic found, matching DOU 42 for $700 (all the guy asked for and was insistent on that price even when informed of being offered more easily inside)
I picked up my matching 147 1940 rifle from there last year but it was rather high with regards to the condition of it which is what you'll see. Lack lustre condition at a high price for alot of rifles from the WW1 and WW2 era should be your expectation.

I'll be there along with some other buddies from the forum here. Text me on Saturday when you are there. I will look for a good rifle for you. (505)238-4523

If you are an FFL/C&R I may know of one for sale.

To answer your original question, the rifles you see at the big collector shows typically fall into two categories: good stuff at top of the market prices and run of the mill stuff at high prices.
This, very accurate.

Any kind of short get together/meet n greet planned? I'm 30ish minutes away from Tulsa and I'll be going this weekend. (Always try to make the wanenmacher show, both times every year, got my 1940 JP Sauer from there last year at the April show)

... i was there in november & did fairly well on some stuff. with a little luck ,, i will be there this saturday only.........

Do the C&R rifles tend to be concentrated in any particular area at the Tulsa show?
Or, are they just scattered all over?

Everywhere, be prepared to walk, it's huge...if you are on the hunt for specifics, don't get distracted by all the bright shiny things lol...you'll be wasting time...

Sorry that I didn't get to call or meet anyone at this show. My wife, and sister-in-law from Oklahoma City, decided we should meet up, for lunch.

I literally ran through the show and left before noon. I didn't see any K98ks that interested me.

Luckily, I was able, at 9:00am via the internet, to acquire a 1937 Portuguese contract M1937 from Mosin Crate.

Very nice, I need to get one of those. Very interesting variant of the K98K. I didn't go today cause of family circumstances. Imma be there tomorrow tho with my 237 1940 looking for a rear sight slider assembly and a youth model 10/22 Ruger my grandpa wants me to sell.

.. opportunity only knocks once. so;;;... like in the good old days when i was younger, i took a road trip. friday night from northern kentucky to tulsa is 750 miles,, one way..!!. at the very last minute, my wife tried that trick of being afraid while i was gone,,.. that does not work anymore;;;.. i drug her butt along. drove all night in big rain storm. had a few hours sleep in buc-ee's back lot at 3 am; & hit the door at 8 am sharp. made her stay till closing saturday evening. i was wiped out driving back home in another storm saturday night. met some collectors & old friends at the show. i did not find any items for my collection; &.. took a couple of pics. the lower level seems to have better stuff;; & is a whopper,, the top floor is three times bigger,,,, it can be overwhelming on your wallet & feet. ,, also some good collectables which ya' don't see too often. the vg-2 , czech semi-auto, & japan m1 copy were neat. the confederate civil war belt i really liked. .. the g41 pickin's were slim & i did not really look at too many 98's. took some pics..... one item i bought ( prices go down closer to end of day}, just before leaving sat. evening;;.. was the helmet from ' Zundapp ' motorcycle plant, .... it is really lightweight, some kinda fibre-board with liner & chin strap. ..??? ..... so;;.. i am ready now for november,,.. & she had learned a valuable lesson,,,,,,,,,,,! >>>>>>> added;;... i forgot something. a guy down on lower had a pretty nice looking ww1 mauser anti-tank rifle.

Yeah using the phone camera can be a bit of a issue with sizing (I only try to take photos for here on the messenger app from Facebook, automatically sized right)
I bounced basically all over the place, I visited that one collector/dealer guy who had the SVT38 and 4 or 5 tables full of rifles and pistols. I really wanted his 1904 LSA Lee Enfield, tickled my fancy for what I look for in Lee Enfield rifles just right.

It was a good show for me. Bought some and sold some. Picked up couple of keepers, including a nice mummed Kokura series 22 Type 99 Arisaka with all the bells & whistles and a sling for a song from a guy walking the show. My big ticket purchase was a byf45 ZF41 that looks pretty righteous, but I need to seek a few second opinions on that.

edit: ZF41 photos. It's got a neat mix of blued and phosphated parts.
