Hi all,
I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but I'm looking forward to the input.
There's a Gewehr 98M that I've come across that's been converted to 7.62 NATO and fitted with what appears to be a reproduction long side rail mount, I will post a link to it at the end of this post.
My questions are, firstly from a history-lover's perspective, how much should this be condemned?
To my knowledge this configuration is completely ahistorical, and I'm curious how much the original value of the rifle has been damaged.
Secondly, what are the options practically, were I to purchase it, to use the rifle for target shooting?
Things to know such as optics options, mount quality, potential weakening of the receiver wall, ammunition to use, possibly of converting back to 7.92x57mm etc.
Any and all comments are welcome.
