ZG 1229 Vampir somewhere?

Roos just want to say amazing project! So is it a major undertaking to install the donor NV? Or have you figure out a set process and steps for those who buy one? I’d so love to get one of these that work.

Wilhelm, do you mean the ZG 1229 roos1984 made? I thought they all had early post war german night vision internals🤔

I found this very interesting web page where they got an original german WW2 FG 1250 night vision scope working again after 80 years!

Some videoes they also uploaded to youtube, pretty awesome!

I think all of his but one were static. If I'm wrong, then I really screwed up in not buying one!

Thank you for that neato link! Do you have a link to one of their youtube videos?

I really hope we get some in depht videoes of working german ww2 nightvision soon, I just love it!
I wonder if any original working ZG 1229 devices still exist? If they do it should be tested for anyone to see and for the future as they are now at least 80 years and might not work for much longer and then we have lost a piece of ww2 history forever

Here are some pictures of the receiver, it's a BD44 from Dittrich, I made everything as original as possible. All spot welds also had to become a new law. Half a year's work was worth it;-)i will connect this device to my zg1229. I think it will fit well.
Hello collectors and interested parties, I found out in Germany that I am supposedly a fraudster because I sold this MP44 from Dittrich as an original. I find it sad to hear from people who have absolutely nothing to do with this topic. I was also made aware of this forum because people know me by this name. Instead of just asking myself how exactly it happened, I would like to clarify it here in the forum... I sold this BD44 from Dittrich, which I also presented here in the forum and said that it was a BD44 from Dittrich, to someone whose name I am not allowed to mention for data protection reasons. I explicitly told him that it was a reproduction. Since he knew this too, I received very little money for it, even though I invested a lot of time and work. I later found some spare parts for the BD44 at Egun, which the person then wanted to sell as original, and luckily I was able to warn the highest bidder that these were not original parts but reproductions. Apparently, this person, in order to get out of it, said that I I sold the MP44 as an original and he didn't know that so as not to look so stupid. I've always been an honest seller, and if I wasn't 100% sure whether something was original or not, I pointed that out. I'm not liable for the people to whom I sell the honest and absolutely truthful item. I didn't mean to annoy you with this; I just wanted to clarify the situation.

Well, this thread led not to direct material for my book, but indirectly it did thankfully. My book 3 on StG 44 accessories is finished and printed. It covers – apart from magazines and magazine pouches, which have been covered in parts 1 and 2 – all other accessories, special accessories, manuals and recognition handbooks, unpublished period photos and photos of the StG 44 in the period press on 208 color pages in best printing quality. It covers much material never seen before and not to be seen ever again. In case somebody is interested in this private print, please write me a PM with the e-mail address.

Hello

Saw this picture before. It is out of a series of pics showing different IR-equipment, some in kind of a laboratory. I guess they where taken at the Leitz facility… There are also three or four realy amazing pics of a Kübelwagen with IR driving devices.

There is another picture of the same guy demonstrating the Vampir from the front. He wears an odd uniform mix: a Waffenrock (not really his size) and an Army fieldcap. He looks like being in the age 40-50 and has a big moustache. My guess he is an factory employee of Leitz demonstrating the stuff and to give him a more military appearance he had to wear the strange uniform…

The Vampir battery box shown looks different to the well known „british“ one from Juni 45, so i think a prototype or pre series model: the box looks like being of sheet metal, cabeling is very different and also the carrying frame. He displays an Stg or MP44 with phosphated (parkerized?) and blued parts…

Regards
Sorry for the rather late reply. Do you still have access to those pictures or know where to find them?

Best regards

If you are really good at something, put your name on it.

The problem with good work and very good copies is that there is always someone who says: “This is an original”.
If that person says it on purpose, it's a fraud. If they don't know it, it's a mistake. It can also happen without knowledge, because the original buyer is deceased and the next buyer doesn't realize that he has a copy in front of him.

I build spare parts for collector's guns and scopes. Slightly modified or with my tag on them. I don't want anyone to say that I sold them a fake as an original. Anyone who can do a little research can prove that it's a copy.
