Yes, I remember the "cheap" surplus rifles in the 70's didn't seem so cheap back then. Had to save for awhile to buy a $45 Gew 88/05 back then. Also, not much specific, printed and detailed info on any given types back then outside of some collecting circles with perhaps the exception of US Civil War era firearms. At least not much in the book stores I visited. I had Smith & Smith Small Arms of the World in the 70's, but it was more a general information book. The information age has been a great enhancement to collector knowledge!
