Old ad with Post-War K98k rifles

Check this out: originally posted in a 1960s era American Rifleman Magazine. Hungarian Rendörség modified rifle and a post-war Czech production rifle:

Was watching a rerun of the 1960's Rat Patrol recently since it was a show I enjoyed back then. Several of the German troops had those post-war Czech VZ98N's shown in that ad!
 
Those ads... you know you shouldn't look but you always do even though you know how depressed you'll get when you see those prices!

Am I imaging things, or was it mentioned here before or did I stumble on it via Google.. wasn't there or is there some guy that has a website devoted to these old ads?
 
I love the old ads. I try to save many of them I see online for nostalgia and also for a reference what was available at any given period in time. The prices are a bit deceptive as $25 in 1965 would be $240-ish today. Still, a bargain price these days though despite inflation!

Knew a guy whom was a young man when he worked at Golden State Arms in Pasadena. Ca. during the 1960s. He ate baloney sandwiches, can of beans & franks, etc. for lunch to save up enough money to buy what was almost a unlimited supply of guns being imported into the USA (and the shop) during that time. This is what a dedicated young collector sacrificed in order to build his collection (no "click of the mouse" or smartphone key) back in the day...!
 
Yes, I remember the "cheap" surplus rifles in the 70's didn't seem so cheap back then. Had to save for awhile to buy a $45 Gew 88/05 back then. Also, not much specific, printed and detailed info on any given types back then outside of some collecting circles with perhaps the exception of US Civil War era firearms. At least not much in the book stores I visited. I had Smith & Smith Small Arms of the World in the 70's, but it was more a general information book. The information age has been a great enhancement to collector knowledge!
