G/K43 Front sight Base

I don't know if this has ever been discussed before. I never really noticed it before but there are different sized front sight bases. I have a G43 that someone buggered up the slot for the front sight blade. No problem I thought, I will just get another one and install it. I had a repro in the parts stash and found out that it doesn't fit. It is too small. I tried it on the other rifles I have and it is the correct size for those rifles but not for some others. The barrel is a bigger dimension. I have 3 rifles with the fatter barrel. The sight bases look identical but have different diameters.

I am going to further compare them all and see if there is a pattern with what rifles got the fatter barrel. Have any of you noticed this or is it just something that I haven't noticed before and probably wouldn't have if it wasn't for trying to change sight bases.

The problem I do have is finding the sight base with the bigger diameter or welding the chunk that is missing and trying to reshape it to take a sight blade in the slot.
 
True problem - if you have a reproduction sight base you can use a Dremel on the inside to widen it and make it fit the larger barrel.

If using an original, I would try to find the proper size.

The diameter of the repro is about the same size as the diameter of the barrel so it wont work. I will keep my eye out for another one or just put some metal back in where the previous person took a chunk out of it.
