VCS Kar71

Scored this one off Gunbroker for a very cheap price thanks to a friend who spied it. All matching and marked to a train unit. The metal is a brown patina and hasn’t been touched. I understood VCS is one of the harder to find makers instead of Steyr or Spandau. Here’s the first round of pictures, I will get more later on for trending purposes.

Well done Marc. I am happy you found a Kar71. It looks sharp and I also like the unit mark. Your Imperial collection is growing at good and steady pace.

It does seem Steyr is the only common maker, that survived in number, though Spandau is also plentiful in comparison. Looks like a nice one, and I agree, several collectors here, including Mark, do seem to be strong buyers with judgement (taste), the last few years have to be the strongest years for fine rifles surfacing. Wasn't very common to find so many nice and relatively rare specimens per year back in the late 1990's and early 2000's. I think this is in part, probably in greater part, because of these same collectors are networking efficiently and not acting against one another, - which is great to see team work keeping nice rifles in a circle of experienced hands.

Thank you for your kind words Paul that really means a lot. I’ve had the good fortune to network with some great people here. I wouldn’t have found this one without a good friend who collects contract Mausers. I will also add some more pictures of the stamps for trending purposes.

That is a nice score. I'm also happy to see rifles turn up like this. It's amazing to think it lasted this long without being messed with. Congrats!

Agree 100%. Though my wallet is on fire, I'm not slowing down. Richest market for nice stuff in many years.
