Zero series ac45 P38 with capture paper...

This 0 series ac45 came my way recently. The pistol had apparently been put away , unused, for a long time. What ever oil or lubricant had been used on the innards had congealed and hardened making the pistol difficult to cycle. After a bit of a struggle I got her apart and left the pieces soaking in mineral spirits for a couple of days. After that came a detailed cleaning and reassembly. Now she works fine. The pistol came with a trophy document made out to Staff Sergeant James B. Grimes of the 3448th Ordnance Medium Automotive Maintainance Company. Here are some pics of the pistol and paper as well as a pic of Grimes and the memorial plaque of 1st Lt. , later Capt. Kinzer.

Very nice find. That is a tuff one to get matching to. Awesome. Love the vet connection to. And with captured papers.

really like that one ! Not super familiar with all the last batch zero series but, this one appears to a standard Ac45 military..

I like it. Had a similar example long ago, that one is really late and difficult to find - papered is even harder!

Nice pistol!!!

I have a span of AC P.38s across the war years. Latest is mid-Dec '44 block. One can really see how things were loosening up in assembly by the end.

That’s a beautiful example and grouping.
I have one, 026046, also minty, all matching (without papers) that was very similar. Filled with original very hard grease. Probably brought back by a guy in the same outfit.
