I'm sure this question has been and is asked all the time but would experience members/collectors please provide some good honest dealers that sell quality all matching K98K's.Hunting on the internet hasn't lead to much except RC and mismatched rifles. Any help would be appreciated so I can buy my first K98K. I've got several books and have bought firearms for years but I am a newbie on K98Ks.I plan on looking on the forum trader too. Thanks

I should add I'm looking for late 30's till about 1943 on K98s, before they took a turn south in workmanship. I want a quality piece not just a shooter.

The forum trader is a good place to look. I actually have a rifle I would part with and I will send you an e-mail. These options failing, I would be happy to recommend a dealer who I trust.

Nothing beats hard work, or saves money. Going the dealer route expect to pay high retail. With auctions you get a chance of getting a deal but you also can pay over retail if you aren't careful.

Plenty of good rifles on Gunbroker... this one ended last night...

GB is a mixed bag, but so are dealers, and gun shows. The key for any buyer is knowing good from bad. One suggestion is to find a mentor who will help guide the process. Unlike Lugers, there's no dealer who is the "go to" guy for matched Kar 98 examples, IMO...

I won that!!! HAHA.

My advice is lots of reading on here, and try to make a few friends, and if you ask questions about a specific gun they will help you. Lots of great guys willing to assist on here. As BiO said lots of dealers sell crap without knowing or caring to know. Some are good, wading through it all is a challenge. Just be happy you are in the US, its far worse in Canada. There is nothing, and if there is something, 99% chance its not what the person says. Not dishonesty just not educated.

Thanks for the inputs. I should have mentioned I'm looking for late 1930's or early WW2 rifles before they started to cut corners on workmanship etc.

Dealer route is expensive but auctions can cost quite a bit once you pay fees. I'm not adverse to auctions just haven't found anything any where near correcct value. With aa good delaer you usually have some recourse if there are issues.
