Walther PP- One of three in the world

When I first got this, I thought that a vet had brought it back and given it to his local gunsmith to play with.
As it turns out, it’s a rarer 7.65 variation of a rare .22 variation.
Even the ‘65’ in 7.65 is unusually sized.
There are 2 more like it, but they are both in museums in Germany.

The serial number on my Walther PP is 803416.
The serial number of Walther PP 803422 reported in the collection of "Landespolizeischule Sachsen" (in Bautzen) is six numbers further along from mine.
I am going to go out on a limb and postulate that there was a small production run of ten or twenty pistols in 7.65mm.
Serial number PP 788781, in the Walther company museum in Ulm, was quite possibly a single, special order project for Georg Walther.

The barrel length on yours is noticeably longer than the book picture. Why would they change barrel lengths for a small batch? If you have explained this on the other thread you mentioned, can you post a link?

I saw your post on the other forum. That is one heck of a great find. Did it come out of a collection?
