IMHO it resembles 1 of these 2 , A.Jackenkroll or Otto Bock . These WW1 Scopes are Amberg`s specialty and others so maybe they will reply . Best Regards

the elevation knob and clamping screw for the range dial are not like an Otto Bock scope.the sniper type elevation knob and housing were only used on the later Bock scopes.the ater scopes are marked on the side of the tube.only the earlier bock scopes with the commercial type elevation housing and knob were marked on the eyepiece.
the later Bock scopes with the sniper type elevation housing used a diamond knurl on the side of the elevation knob.the range dial was clamped with a flat plat and 3 screws similar to a Gerard B3x scope.
I thought that Ajackenroll worked for Otto Bock during the war and bought his scope business just after the war.the early Ajack scopes look like Bock scopes and I think are using Bock parts.

Sorry, I do not know either.
Looks like a put together.
From my records, the earliest Ajack is 88xx, the latest Bock 87xx
The elevation adjustment with 56xx might be correct for a transitional Bock scope.
Earlier scopes have maker marks and serial# on the ocular housing. Later scopes have the maker marks on the left side of the tube and the serial# on the elevation turret.
Hopefully "vaughn99" knows more than I do.
Only have a handful Ajack/Bock scopes recorded.
Thanks

Hello,

scope is a Otto Bock. the 1-10 dial is consistent with the 2 other observations I have of serials between 6100-6300 of a 1 piece dial with a cap with screw driver slot. the type 2, 2 piece 1-10 dial meters with dial stop screw I only again have 2 observations and they both are in the 6500 serial range so there is room for the 2 variants to show up. again with the info I have to me AJACK the Camera Company made the scopes for OTTO BOCK as 2 examples I have say Otto Bock on them but also have the AJACK logo present on the rear ocular. I have 1 observation in the 1000 range and another in the 3500 range. like others have said AJACK did not make scopes under there name alone till 1919. my numbers are different than Amberg's as I have the highest Otto Bock scope at serial 6523 and the lowest AJACK scope at 6560. if you put the Otto bock hi against the Ajack low they are mirror copy of each other in all aspects in serial font, letter font and scope design just 1 has Otto address and the other the Ajack address. AJACK very quickly at the latest in 1921 changed the 3x WWI sniper look to a 3x75 with a tiny front objective bell now added. If you could clean up the elevation tower to get the whole serial number would be great as your example could stretch the know serial range, of course a ton more examples are needed and every one we get help paint a better picture. I think the serial under the gunk is 2256 or 3356.

They are all different to the shown scope.

@ katana:
what ring and where is marked with the rifle#?
Looks like front ring at the front.

At present, my best guess goes towards a transitional model, when Bock moved the serial# from the ocular to the elevation adjustment and still had the maker markings on the ocular.

Thanks

Hi,the rifle number is on the frontbase(8001).I think even now that it is an early Otto Bock is but the montage (soldered) still makes me worry.

Rings/mount (Montage) were altered from single claw off set to some junk.

That's right but I have this kind of mount(dovetail) not seen and I have sharpshooters almost all books about.
Thanks for the help.

Michael,
you have not seen that kind of mount earlier, because the original rings on that scope body were altered from single claw into some junk.
Thanks
