Unissued Portuguese Contract 98K

Holy mackerel!!! A very nice rifle but the buyer paid about 2K more than it is worth in my opinion. There are quite a few cherry '41 Ports here in Canada and even mint examples don't go much past $2000 from what I've seen.

Man I wish I could sell mine for that!!

Mike, there are a lot of ports in canada but I've noticed too many have small issues.
Mismatched scabbard, or no bayo, or no sling , or no crest on the stock. Seldom are there perfect ones. Also market place. The EE is about the gunbroker of canada. Haha

I have an unissued one with all correct parts, I'll be selling it in the new year and expect $2500 from it. But $3800usd aka. $4400 cad(today) is waaaaaaay too much.

In this case the rifle is legit.

Only fault I can see is no acabbard number posted or visible in the photos. As I mentioned earlier, a lot of nice ports in canada but small flaws like this are common.

I don't take anything from that seller seriously.

He must be doing something right. Have you looked at his feedback ratings? He's running about 1/10 of 1% negative. It would help him if his photography was better, though!

Paid $1,600 for my unissued Port 98K. My avatar is the WaA135 stemple on the butt stock. The wood is perfect, with some nice flame.

I'd love to add one that nice looking to my collection.. But my goodness, that's expensive. More power to the buyer, I suppose.

The Grey blanket is magic.

See some threads on his rifles on gunboards Japanese forum. His feedback score is a long way from the whole story. As usual, buyer beware. He gets some good pieces but too many are fishy. That is why we learn here and elsewhere, so we know what is what and not rely on any given vendor and their feedback rating. Judge each firearm on its own merits and do homework.

That rifle looks good to me but I am no expert on that contract rifle. I would be a whole lot more informed if I were bidding that kind of money.

I'm told by different people I come across in this hobby that this guy has many gunbroker accounts....You can guess the rest.

I'm also told by someone in the same state that if his stuff doesn't sell for what he think it should he takes them to gunshows. Makes you wonder how he could do that with no reserves...See above.

Oh also I've heard he has an Ebay account that he sells nothing but firearm spare parts...Makes you wonder even more.
