Hi everyone my name is paul and I'm new here and I own a mauser k98 bnz 43 and I'm trying to build a history on the rifle so that I can make a little booklet for it. I think it's really interesting how far it's come and what it's done in it's life. It's in great condition and I do fire it at about 100yards as after that it's harder to see the target board.

im also looking for 2 stripper clips for it, ideally ww2 ones but repro are ok aswell

Unless you know who brought it back as far as "history" it's pretty much just the maker, year, and maybe month of production.

As far as shooting, Swedish stripper clips are the best IMO.

Better pictures can maybe tell more about post war use by markings (ie Czech, Russian capture, Romanian capture).

You should clean the brass one as in middle of inner spring is a circle stamp normally.

are the Swedish clips you mention made for 7.9x57, or 6.5x55? I ask because strippers made by DWM & FMAP for 7.65x53 Argentine don’t work well w/ 7.9mm, even though the dimensional differences in the cartridges are quite small, the clip dimensions are different. I prefer brass clips, because I reload & IMO the brass ones beat up the casings less than steel ones. The ‘Turkish’ style are the smoothest, but they don’t hold the cartridges as tightly as the German style.

the subject rifle may well be an SS contract rifle, as shown in another thread, it bears’70s-‘80s vintage German reproofing marks, & caliber designation as applied by Frankonia. It is now in the UK, but no British marks have been shown, poster is working on more pix. (rifle is in working condition, not pinned or welded)

History of rifle?

Looking into history of this rifle. Have been told it is a gusen SS contract but have doubts. Not very knowledgeable on this topic so curious if anyone has definitive information thank you.
