Hard to say if that is the original barrel, might be Imperial German originally though, obviously vandalized by the modern German authorities, with their asinine graffiti.

Looks like a few Imperial acceptance on the barrel, but any real clues to origins are probably under the wood. Probably not original to the actual rifle though.

Hi, thanks for your assessment. What makes you think the wood isn't original to the rifle? If I understand you correct that is. Regards HJ

Hello, I did not mention the stock because there is no way to tell with these pictures whether it is original or not. It has the correct features, the take down and grips, but other than that only an examination of the interior (inside) will tell if it is original. The exterior markings, cypher, acceptance, apparently the serial, is missing, looks sanded thoroughly. Still the inside serial should remain, and maybe the buttplate serial, - it too should be serialed.

It will tell you if the stock is original, or at least a clue, looking under will also tell if the barrel is original. Might be, but its been altered, but only the markings will tell one way or the other.

Well none of the other parts factory match so the chances the stock is original is super low. The Turks seem to have delighted in totally mixing these rifles up during service or rebuild.
