Safe To Fire ????

I'd be wary of the craftsmanship on that specific gun just because you never know what you're getting with these old rechamberings, but the G/K43 action should be able to handle .30-06.

There was a G/K43 clone made by the Brazilians after WW2 in .30-06 ,the Mosquetao Semi-Automatico m954. I knew a guy years ago who had a couple, he didn't like to fire them only because the stocks were made out of some really fragile wood (some kind of tropical wood I think?) that was prone to chipping and cracking. Of course, basically impossible to replace once damaged.

There were many of these rechambered to 30-06 many years ago. They shoot just fine. I bought one that I rebarreled back to the original 7.92

I'm betting re barreled to 30/06 would be far less involved as one would have to re cut chamber plus reline the bore back to .308. I think Apfeltor offered this work

There are a lot of guns out there that are in 8mm-06, where they basically reamed the chamber to .30-06 specs but left the barrel alone. I've seen more than one where it was just labeled .30-06, I don't think gunsmiths in the 50s-60s were too worked up about someone sending through an under-bore projectile.

I remember hearing about that from some old timer gunsmiths/shops. Rational was at the time 06 brass was readily available, 8x57 was not here in US. Not a very successful conversion from what I understand due to having to expand brass neck to accept .323 resulting in case neck splits, accuracy and trying to figure out powder loads.
